25 April 2008 - Grooming day

This afternoon, I decided it was time to trim the perennials, rake the mulch and feed Yum Yum mix to each plant. I noticed the deer have eaten the tops of the emerging day lilies so I piled fragrant sage clippings around the base of the affected plants.

I must admit that, true to my creative nature, I'd rather plant new plants than maintain existing ones.

The prickly pear cacti survived our exceptionally cold winter.

I don't know the name of this low growing perennial.
I love its bold pink blooms.
