30 July 2006 - front yard

Today's weather forecast: sunny and very hot!
I haven't deep watered the garden in six weeks.
Rain and spot watering have sufficed.

Red yarrow blooms for the first time.
I added this plant in late May.

I deadheaded the campanula after their first blooms faded and hoped they would rebloom.
Lucky me - they are! (above and below)

Not much new in the garden this morning.
This colorful view is from the front porch.

28 July 2006 - front yard

A sunny Colorado morning

A gardening friend gave me this hyssop in late spring.
I planted it in a challenging spot in the garden.
It's grown quickly and continues to thrive.

Feverfew (white) in full bloom

The front of the garden, reserved for lower-growing plants,
is filling out nicely.

A cloudy morning.

I took these photos late in the afternoon.
Although the blue flax blossoms had dropped,
the mirabilis multiflora was in full bloom.

Yesterday's dry weather gave the plants a chance to recover and grow.

20 July 2006 - front yard

My garden had visitors last night - deer.
They bit off all the day lily buds. Enough is enough!
This fall, I'm going to dig up the day lilies
and plant them in the backyard.

This paprika yarrow was damaged by the hail storm.
I cut it back yesterday.
The plant looks happier this morning.

The mirabilis miraflora is bouncing back after the hail storm.
